Penalty save
The 36-year-old is a legend in Turkey having represented his country 118 times and is in his 16th season at the top of the game. Rüştü cemented his reputation as one of the world's leading goalkeepers when he helped Turkey to a third-place finish at the 2002 FIFA World Cup and performed further heroics at UEFA EURO 2008™, saving the decisive spot-kick in a shoot-out win over Croatia in the quarter-finals.
Title defence
Rüştü joined Beşiktaş from Fenerbahçe SK in 2007 and was the club's No1 last season as the Black Eagles claimed their first title in six years. Their defence, however, has so far been difficult for both the team and Rüştü, who has been restricted to one league appearance because of injury. The goalkeeper hopes to be back in time for the trip to PFC CSKA Moskva in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, and after losing their opening Group B game to Manchester United FC, the Turkish titleholders are in need of a lift.
