Besiktas are hoping Gallardo can fill the position left by Brazilian midfielder Ricardinho, who is likely to return to his homeland.
Gallardo, who came to fame at Argentine giants River Plate, is also in the plans of Atletico Mineiro, club who will celebrate 100 years of existence this coming year.
The club from Belo Horizonte are hoping Gallardo can reinforce their squad, but they are unlikely to compete with Besiktas, who are counting with much better finances than them.
"There are many clubs that are interested in Gallardo. Atletico made an offer for the Argentine, and we are waiting for a response," stated Hissa Moyses, who is an important Atletico Mineiro director.
But the final decision is up to Gallardo's current club Paris Saint Germain, who have the player under contract until 2009.
