RICARDINHO TO TURKEY?

Following on from the news that Ricardinho had been banished to the reserves by (now ex-) coach Geninho, it appears the player could be set to move to Besiktas of Turkey, after the Turkish club registered their interest in the midfielder.

Having already approached his Corinthians team-mate Gustavo Nery, it now appears the Istanbul club want to add the experienced schemer to their growing list of Brazilians, which includes 2002 World Cup winner and Manchester United reject Kléberson, striker Marcio Nobre and another former Timão star, Bobô.

Although he is something of a hero with Corinthians fans after his glorious displays during his successful spell their from 1998-2002, his form since his return from Santos has been patchy at best, leading to his exclusion from recent matches. Other European clubs including Juventus and Manchester United are reported to be interested, but the decision will come down to President Kia Joorabchian when he returns from Europe soon.

A lot also depends on who the new Corinthians coach will be. Whether it is one of the two favourites Carlos Alberto Parreira or Emerson Leão who takes over or somebody else, that man will have their own ideas on the future shape of the side - which could still include Nery and Ricardinho. Parreira indeed selected both players frequently during his recent stint in charge of the national team, and may well want to keep the duo.
